About Forged by Ions

Forged by Ions was created to provide practical lithium-ion battery training grounded in the realities of emergency response. The goal is to help responders understand what has changed, recognize developing hazards, and make informed decisions using realistic, street-level strategies.

About the Instructor

Justin Simpson is a career firefighter serving in Maryland, currently working as an engine operator assigned to Special Operations. He has experience across all-hazards special operations and a background in paramedicine. He is also a HazMat Technician, which is where his interest in lithium-ion batteries developed.

Through emergency response, continued study, and a desire to better understand the challenges these incidents create for responders, Justin has developed and delivered lithium-ion battery training focused on hazard recognition, changing conditions, and practical incident decision-making.

Through Forged by Ions, Justin provides training grounded in current information, practical response considerations, and a street-level perspective backed by field experience.
